Giant Campus’ Online Workshops For Adults To Help Job Seekers Enhance Marketability

SEATTLE – March 5, 2009 - Giant Campus, the nationally recognized leader in innovative technology education programs for youth and adults, today announced that for the first time it is offering a series of online workshops designed to help job seekers improve their marketability. The courses serve as either a refresher or an introduction to various computer applications and uses like Microsoft Office™, Adobe Photoshop® and Adobe Flash®. They are meant to give adults professional and life skills for the 21st century – imperative for the current economic climate.

“In this day and age, a person must be fluent in the latest technology in order to be a key contributor within a business,” said noted career counselor Rebecca Warriner. “This is an especially important consideration given the number of job seekers pursuing different positions and careers in new industries. Training counts.”

Giant Campus currently offers online and offline computer camps to youth and military service members and their families. The adult online workshops are a natural extension using Giant Campus’ proven online learning platform where participants easily log in from anywhere for live instructor-led demonstrations, practice sessions and project creation.

The first wave of adult online workshops is offered every Tuesday for three consecutive weeks starting March 24 and ending April 7. Each class lasts two hours and 15 minutes and is offered either from 7:00 PM – 9:15 PM Eastern Time or 7:00PM – 9:15 PM Pacific Standard Time. The cost per session is $129.

“We see these camps as an affordable, no brainer for anyone in the workforce right now – whether employed or unemployed,” said Giant Campus Founder and CEO Pete Findley. “The skills adults pick up with these courses could prove to be a key differentiator between them and others in such a tight labor market.”

Unemployment figures released on February 6 2009 from the U.S. Labor Department revealed an unemployment rate at 7.6 percent, the highest level since September 1992. It has been widely reported that there’s been a recent surge in higher education enrollment correlating with the rising unemployment.

Current curriculum for Giant Campus’ adult online technology workshops include:
o Intro to Office 2007 (includes Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
o Intro to Adobe Flash CS4
o Intro to Adobe Photoshop CS4
Additional workshops will be added over the upcoming months.
