Young kids combine creating high tech projects and inflatable arenas
SEATTLE – February 26, 2008 - Giant Campus, the nationally recognized leader in innovative technology education programs for youth, today announced that it is now offering computer camps at 45 Pump It Up locations in 14 states across the country. The camps offer a unique learning experience for children ages 6-10 including hands-on projects in computer animation, game design, digital photography, robotics and web design while having access to Pump It Up’s inflatable arenas.
To offer a one of a kind camp experience for young kids, Giant Campus students have a chance to learn on-site at Pump It Up – the nation’s largest franchise of giant, indoor, inflatable playgrounds for children of all ages. Each location offers large-warehouse sized facilities filled with colorful, interactive, inflatable bouncing areas that stand nearly two stories high.
Along with inflatable fun, kids build and create fun projects on the computer including arcade-style games, CD covers, sounds, animations and digital images while learning how to use leading edge programs like Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Multimedia Fusion 2 and Microsoft Windows. In addition, a robotics offering allows kids to build robots with the just-released WEDO robotics system from Lego ®. At the end, students will have built robots that walk, talk, play sounds and respond to commands.
“We had tremendous success working with Pump It Up last year so now we’re offering this unique camp experience to even more kids at more locations this year,” said Giant Campus Founder and CEO Pete Findley. “When you put our creative computer and robotics projects together with the active play component at Pump It Up, there’s nothing else like it on the market.”
Creative Computer Projects and Robotics Projects are offered in half day and full day sessions 5 days a week beginning June 8, 2009 through August 21, 2009.
Giant Campus summer camps span on-site locations across the country. They are designed to inspire kids and teens with technology while engaging them in 21st century skills such as creativity, problem solving, communication and collaboration.
