If you're passionate about gaming and want to learn more about how to program and script complex games, Flash Game Development is the course for you.
This introductory course teaches the fundamentals of game design and game development through step-by-step projects in Adobe® Flash®, a professional grade software program.
In this online class, you'll create a diverse portfolio of Flash games, including:
- A zoo escape game for the player to move through by clicking doors
- A pirate game with a ship the player clicks and drags around obstacles
- A dragon themed maze game with keyboard controls, collection objects, and enemies with artificial intelligence
- A space themed scrolling action game where the player destroys enemies with a laser
- A multi-level robot game with many rooms for the player to move through and explore
As you complete these projects, you'll develop the skills you need to design and create Flash games of your own. You'll learn about and use:
- The Flash workspace and tools
- The Timeline, layers, keyframes, libraries, and assets
- ActionScript®, the scripting language of Flash, for programming objects and frames
- Key game design elements, such as:
- Keyboard and mouse controls
- Collection objects
- Health bars, timers, and lives
- Levels
- Hit tests between objects
- Enemies with artificial intelligence
- Animations and sounds
- Alpha effects to make objects appear and disappear
- Title and end screens
