Are you curious about what it takes to program computers? Are you interested in learning to code your own programs, games, and more?
As you work with Microsoft® Visual C++® 2008 Express Edition, a free alternative to Microsoft Visual Studio®, you'll gain a solid foundation in the core concepts of programming.
In this online class, you'll create a variety of programs, including:
- A traditional Hello World program
- A calculator that adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides
- A program that asks a player to guess a random number, and then tells the player if they're guessing too high or too low until they get it right
- A classic two-player Tic Tac Toe game
- A quiz show program with multiple choice questions and answers
- A Windows®-based version of the Hello World program
- An organizer for data, such as your favorite music or movies
As you complete these projects, you'll develop the skills you need to design and create software programs and applications of your own. You'll learn about:
- Object-oriented programming, including defining classes, creating objects, and declaring private and public variables and methods
- Compiling and running a C++ program
- Variable types, including float, int, char, and string
- Declaring global and local variables
- Outputting text and getting input
- Working with file streams
- Writing and using functions
- Creating buttons and dialog boxes
- Using libraries
- And more!
